Welcome to Weyfarers
Leaders in recreational and touring rowing

Weyfarers is the recreational arm of Weybridge Rowing Club. We are one of just a handful of recreational and touring rowing clubs in the UK, formed for and by people who think rowing should be FUN!

  • No time to train 8 days a week?
  • Love rowing, but want to have a life as well?
  • Never tried rowing, but want to have a go?

Then maybe YOU should try recreational rowing!!

Don't get us wrong - we don't just paddle around. We aim to improve our technique and get fit, just like our more competitive friends. But our horizons are wider.....

Take a look at our Photos page to see what we've been up to recently

Never rowed before? No problem! We run learn to row courses in the Spring, Summer and Autumn.

This week's outings w/c 18th Decemebr
There will be a joint Weyfarers/Weybridge outing on Christmas Day at 10 a.m. followed by rum punch and mince pies - sign up on this week's sheet if you would like to take part.
We're planning next year's calendar - possible trips to Germany, Holland and Switzerland, plus the Voga Longa (Venice) on 20th May.
Social Events
We had a very successful dinner dance on Saturday - big thank you to Annette who organised the whole thing and Sally who negotiated a good deal for us at the Brooklands Hotel.  Congratulations to Nigel who was awarded the Volunteer of the Year prize for his contribution to coaching the beginners and towing the trailer to various events.
Please send in your photos and we will publish them on the website.
Racing (though of course we are not a racing club!)
Two Weyfarers crews took part in the Great Tyne Row on 2nd September.  Alasdair's crew, comprising Steve, Brian, Lisa and Kate, came third overall, jointly winning the prize for the fastest mixed crew in exactly the same time as the Weybridge mixed crew - who of course are true racing rowers and on average 30 years younger!

Our Great River Race crew (Roy, Kim, Paul Sermon, David S, Sarah and Annette, coxed by Alasdair with the Mayor of Spelthorne as passenger)  in a fixed-seat Thames Cutter, achieved an impressive time of 2 hours 49 minutes and 45 seconds.  Photos here (courtesy of Kim)
Training and education
Caroline will be running a coxing course on Sunday 3rd December.  Sign up nearer the time.
We are hoping to organise a capsize drill and a first aid course in early 2018.  Contact Caroline if you are interested in doing these.
FISA Tour 2018
Next year's international FISA tour will be on the Costa Brava, Spain, from 13th - 20th May.  Details will appear here when they are available.
