Welcome to Weyfarers
Leaders in recreational and touring rowing

Weyfarers is the recreational arm of Weybridge Rowing Club. We are one of just a handful of recreational and touring rowing clubs in the UK, formed for and by people who think rowing should be FUN!

  • No time to train 8 days a week?
  • Love rowing, but want to have a life as well?
  • Never tried rowing, but want to have a go?

Then maybe YOU should try recreational rowing!!

Don't get us wrong - we don't just paddle around. We aim to improve our technique and get fit, just like our more competitive friends. But our horizons are wider.....

Take a look at our Photos page to see what we've been up to recently

Never rowed before? No problem! We run learn to row courses in the Spring, Summer and Autumn.

Next course September.   COURSE FULL.  Book now to go on the waiting list

This week's outings w/c 14th August

3 cfrews of Weyfarers, plus one from Falcon RC (Oxford) and De Laak (Holland) had a fantastic 2-day trip from Lechlade to Oxford over the weekend.  Many thanks to Nicole for organising it all, incuding the sunshine!

Touring
14 rowers from Broxbourne, Lea and Trondheim (Norway) joined us last Friday for a day row to Staines, with lunch at the Swan.

Twelve Weyfarers took part in The Great Coal Row (Southampton) over the weekend of  27th - 29th May, organised by Southampton Coalporters Rowing Club.  Information here.  Photos will be posted as soon as I receive them.

Five Weyfarers took part in the Voga Longa in Venice on 4th June.   Thanks to our friends at Ruderclub Neuss in Luzern, Switzerland, who provided them with seats in their boats.
Social Events
Quiz Night - Saturday 30th September.
Wine tasting - date TBA
Annual Dinner Dance on Saturday 25th November at the Brooklands Hotel.
Racing (though of course we are not a racing club!)
Our gallant crew who raced in the "Explore" event at Maidenhead Regatta on Saturday - Sharon, Sarah G, Marika and Nick G-C, coxed by Lisa - did brilliantly, winning two races and narrowly losing in the final.

Our "Thames Guardian" crew of John T, Roy, David S, Graham, Jon B, Nick G-C, coxed by Alasdair with Caroline as passenger, rowed a Thames Cutter in the Port of London Challenge on 19th July.  They didn't do too badly, considering their lack of experience of fixed seat boats.  Results here:

A win at Molesey regatta for Alasdair's crew (again) - Kate, Lisa, Lucas and Steve, beating Staines and Molesey.

Here are the results of the Desborough Challenge (Saturday 10th June)
  • 573 (Alasdair, Kate, Lisa, Lucas, Sharon) 39.04
  • 574 (Sarah, Nick C, Nicole, Kim, David G) 42.46
  • 575 (Alison, Kathryn, Julie, Gareth, Nick G-C) 43.29
  • 576 (Weybridge Ladies) 43.32
  • 577 (Goring Gap) 44.33
Pennants were awarded to the fastest Weyfarers crew (Alasdair) and the fastest visitng crew (WLARC).
