Welcome to Weyfarers
Leaders in recreational and touring rowing

Weyfarers is the recreational arm of Weybridge Rowing Club. We are one of just a handful of recreational and touring rowing clubs in the UK, formed for and by people who think rowing should be FUN!

  • No time to train 8 days a week?
  • Love rowing, but want to have a life as well?
  • Never tried rowing, but want to have a go?

Then maybe YOU should try recreational rowing!!

Don't get us wrong - we don't just paddle around. We aim to improve our technique and get fit, just like our more competitive friends. But our horizons are wider.....

Never rowed before? No problem! We run learn to row courses in the Spring, Summer and Autumn.

British Rowing National Tour
18 Weyfarers took part in the national tour on the River Severn from 28th - 31st August.  The weather was kind and everyone had a great time.  Many thanks to Upton Rowing Club for their superb organisation.  Photos here

Weyfarers triumph at Henley!
No, not the Royal Regatta, but Henley Town & Visitors Regatta on Saturday 2nd August.  Our crew, consisting of Graham, Paul, John B, Juliette and Frederique, beat off strong opposition from the RAF and Henley Rowing Club to win the Primary mixed coxed quad race.  Congratulations, especially to the girls, who only started rowing on our April Wey to Row course.

The so-called "recreational" event at Maidenhead Regatta didn't go so well, as our guys and gals were beaten by a vastly more experienced crew from Marlow.
Outing Times
Evening outings start at 6.00 this week, as it's nearly dark by 7.30 p.m.  Friday night sculling at 5.30 only.
A weekend in Paris
Two crews took part in the "Grand Huit" race at Poissy/Villennes on the outskirts of Paris on 22nd June.  Not for the faint-hearded, this is an 18 km time trial / obstacle course against some serious rowers, including some giants from the Ecole Polytechnique (who won overall).  The mixed crew of Roy, John, Gareth, Lara and Annette came second in their event.
Hide Awey
Many thanks to all those who helped with redecorating the Hut.  We are now just about finished with the interior, but the roof still needs mending.  We have a quote from a roofer and work should start soon.   We are also hoping to get some financial help to get the loo working, which will involve installing a connection to the main sewer.
Forthcoming events
20th September - Great Tyne Row
27th September - Great River Race
